Sandlot Soccer
Sandlot is for children in Kindergarten through 2nd grade.
Sandlot is fun, small-sided, team-oriented soccer for younger players attending Kindergarten through 2nd grade. The program is based on the child's grade (not age). All players who register for Sandlot by the deadline will be placed on a team.
Sandlot sessions are on Saturdays. The sessions run for between 60 and 75 minutes. The sessions start with a short skills session followed by games against other Sandlot teams. The teams train as a unit and are coached by volunteer coaches. Professional coaches, acting as mentors, are available at each session to recommend activities and to assist the volunteer coaches with the session.
To run the Sandlot program, the Winchester Soccer Club has a Sandlot Commissioner and an Assistant Sandlot Commissioner on our Board of Directors. Additionally, Age Group Coordinator (AGC) create the teams for each age group. Please contact the appropriate Age Group Coordinator if you have any questions. IF YOU ARE ABLE, PLEASE VOLUNTEER TO COACH. NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY
We would not be able to produce Sandlot soccer without the time and effort of our volunteer coaches. If you are able, please consider volunteering to coach. No experience is necessary -- you just need a positive attitude with the players. We have plans designed for each session and professional coaches on site to help and make it easy. Kindergarten boys: 8:00-9:00 a.m.
Kindergarten girls: 9:30-10:30 a.m.
1st grade boys: 11:00-12:15 p.m.
1st grade girls: 12:45-2:00 p.m.
2nd grade boys: 2:30-3:45 p.m.
2nd grade girls: 4:00-5:15 p.m.

Optional Practice Sesssions
* There will additionally be optional Friday practice sessions run by PROformance for 1st and 2nd graders.

Uniforms/Equipment/Rules:
Sandlot players will continue to wear the red and white reversible Sandlot jerseys. Returning players will wear the same jersey they wore last year. NEW Sandlot players receive a jersey at no cost. Sandlot jerseys will be distributed to NEW players at the first session.
Wear cleats or sneakers (no baseball cleats allowed).
Wear shin guards.
Wear socks covering shin guards.
Bring a soccer ball (grades K-1: size 3 ball; grade 2: size 4 ball) and water bottle. Please label both with the player's name.
NO JEWELRY, including earrings. The only exception is a taped medical I.D. bracelet.
Parent Information
Parents should NOT stand with the team. All parents are asked to view sessions on the sideline opposite to the players.
