The 3rd through 8th grade Travel programs compete in BAYS (Bay Area Youth Soccer) league, a youth league with over 1,500 teams from 50+ eastern Massachusetts cities and towns.
Players who register for Travel Soccer before the registration deadline will be placed on a team. Those players who register late will be placed on teams as space allows. Teams must be submitted to BAYS many weeks before the start of the season and therefore our registration deadline is necessary.
Travel teams practice twice a week on weekdays scheduled by the volunteer coach. Travel teams play approximately 10 games per season on Saturdays, half in Winchester and half away. The game play is 7v7, 9v9 or 11v11 depending on the age group.
Teams are created by the Age Group Coordinators (AGCs). Players are placed based on the level of play, with a top team, second team, etc. Player placement is based on a mix of Coach Evaluations (from coaches in previous seasons) and Placement Evaluations (from independent evaluators). All travel players must attend Placements, which are held in June each year. Evaluations will look at a player's technical ability, potential, commitment level, and coachability.
Teams will be created ahead of each Fall and Spring season. The club expects and encourages movement between teams each season.
Teams are placed in BAYS divisions and sections based on the team's level of play.
Please contact the appropriate Age Group Coordinator if you have any questions. Contact information for the commissioners can be found on our WSC Leadership link above.
